TORONTO
- As part of its expansion drive and development of network partners,
Air Sahara, India’s fastest growing and most innovative domestic
airline, has appointed Trade Wind Associates Canada Inc. as its
new General Sales Agent (GSA) in Canada.
A high-level team from Air Sahara was in Toronto recently to announce
this partnership. Headed by the Chief Executive Officer, Uttam Kumar
Bose, the team included Vice President – Corporate Strategy
and Commercial, Alok Sharma; Vice President – Sales, K. Damodaran
and General Manager, Marketing, Raman Mohan.
Their business partnership was formally announced at a party held
at the Sheraton downtown with airline boss Bose welcoming Trade
Wind Associates as “part of their family.”
Speaking on the occasion he said Air Sahara and Trade Wind would
work together and grow together.
Uttam Kumar Bose said: “For us at Air Sahara the appointment
of Trade Wind was a logical extension of our expansion thrust.
With so many new destinations and connections we needed to work
with a large professional organization in this part of the world
and the credentials that Trade Wind Associates Canada Inc bring
with them would in no uncertain terms provide the right impetus
to our sales in Canada.”
Bose recounted Sahara’s achievement in the past 25 years
and said his organization has made tremendous success and look forward
to touching new heights.
Nilufer Mama said it’s a great occasion for her organization
to celebrate the newest business partnership with an ever-growing
airline – Sahara.
She assured Sahara officials that Trade Wind Associates would work
hard to promote the airlines interest.
It may be mentioned here that over the last twelve months, Air
Sahara has been on an aggressive fleet expansion drive and coupled
with a range of unique innovations both on ground and onboard it
has firmly established itself as India’s premier domestic
carrier. Apart from its Boeing Fleet it is also the first airline
in India to fly Regional Jets and has already inducted four of seven
proposed Bombardier Canadian Regional 50 seater jets.
On this occasion the airline also launched the international version
of its award-winning concept, Sixer for Economy Class and Super
Sixer for Business Class. This initiative recently won the 2003
PATA Gold Award for marketing.
This special six coupon offer entitles passengers to travel on
any six sectors on the Air Sahara network at a special prepaid price
giving travellers the advantage of a single fare applicable on all
sectors regardless of the actual published fare.
The offer starts at US $599 for Economy Class and US $799 for Business
Class and these have a validity period of 90 days. Versions of 180
days and 360 days are also available. Both the Sixer and Super Sixer
offers give the flexibility of more than one person utilizing the
six coupons at any time and this would be of considerable advantage
to families, groups and corporates.
Innovations both in the sky and ground have been key driving factors
for the airline. Prominent amongst the onboard initiatives is a
Bid and Win concept where passengers can bid for branded products
at prices much lower than their retail prices, a buffet meal service
on Business Class and individual headsets for channel music on the
new generation Boeing Aircraft. On ground Air Sahara is the only
carrier to have its own exclusive airport Business Lounges, a valet
service for all passengers and a host of other customer oriented
services.
In this regard, Alok Sharma said: “We are particularly very
upbeat on our Sixer and Super Sixer offer and believe this product
in particular will give a tremendous boost to people from here to
be able to travel to more destinations while in India.”
